Safety FeaturesCottam horseshoes are designed with a variety of features to assist horse performance and reduce injury potential. FORGING / OVERREACHINGThe Ideal Hind is designed to enable the shoe to be fitted back from the toe, assisting breakover and reducing overreach damage. We also make Supershoe Fronts which have tapered heels to allow the toe of the following hind shoe to slide off the heels of the front shoe
BRUSHINGAll Cottam shoes are balanced so that the horse's leg moves in the most natural and economical way. The Ideal Hind and the Surefit Hind both have the inside heel safed off should brushing occur.
SUPPORT & PROTECTIONCorrect support is essential for the protection of the hoof and tendons. Cottam shoes are available in either bold or fullered concave profiles and also a choice of steel section to suit horse conformation and sport. BoldDesigned for bigger horses such as warmbloods or draught crosses used for hunting, showjumping and dressage, due to the extra support it provides from more 'steel under foot.'
The best choice for thoroughbreds or lightly-bred horses and ponies, providing excellent support for all sporting disciplines. SLIP-RESISTANCEIt is not always practical to wear studs when the ground is slippery, particularly in sports such as hunting when the terrain may vary from greasy clay to bitumen roads.
A range of carbide pin studs, manufactured by Cottam, for the performance horseshoes are available. Please see listing under our tools. |
